It is expensive but a nice place to live. I would know because I haven't moved in yet. It's nice that they have free parking. I hope it doesn't fill up too quickly. Thanks.
I have not yet moved into my apartment complex, but I am excited to move in and spend my sophomore year at a location as nice as the Retreat! I thoroughly enjoyed the tour I took as well, which gave me a great opportunity to see the complex.
The community is very nice and has a lot to offer its residents. So far, the community and the staff have been quite welcoming. I am looking forward to living here in the fall!
My overall experience has been very good, however, I find myself having to put in many maintenance requests. Although this is isn’t something The Retreat can fix- due to it being the way the buildings were assembled , it is still very inconvenient.
Very nice community with lots of amenities and perks. Love the aesthetics of the buildings and the lawn space left at every building. Only complaint is the bugs: There always seems to be spiders or ants in every building.
Pretty good so far! The staff was really welcoming when I first came in and it's been nice to be off campus with awesome roommates and being able to cook.
Love it. Loved it 2 years ago love it now. Super clean, but infrastructure could be better since it’s so new. People are great. Helpful but sometimes untimely.
Everything has been great so far. The people and the atmosphere are great! I love hanging out with my friends at the clubhouse and the pool.
Apartment is ok but expensive. Living here is very costly. The community is nice and the area is a little out of the way from Virginia tech. Other than that the retreat could just use a price reduction.
McDonald's Canada has just unveiled a new menu item. The 'Fish & Chips' features "100% Atlantic haddock" sourced from Nova Scotia fishers. The fish is served on top of McDonald's classic golden fries with a side of tartar sauce
very nice apparment this is very nice it is a nice apartment. I started living here in 2018. It is very nice. I enjoy living here at this appt.
I love living here! The community and its residents are amazing, and the amenities are a great way to bring us all together! I’ve never had a problem with the staff or any other residents
It was a pretty good experience. Kinda steep for the price and amenities are cool when they are useable. Feels like I’m paying for stuff I can’t use majority of the time. It’s good if you have the cash. Best part is the closet and personal bathroom
It’s been really fantastic so far. I have enjoyed being a part of this amazing community and group. The management makes any problems or confusion easy to fix and understand.
Overall, it is a great environment where people work to make you feel comfortable. I also love all of the amenities. And, the apartments themselves are really nice, especially when furnished.
I’ve had a great experience so far! I love the awesome amenities, the helpful staff, and luxurious rooms! It’s a quiet area but a lively community.
The Retreat is great! Everyone is super helpful and extremely nice. They have made my first apartment experience a breeze. I’m looking forward to living here!
I had to move in the middle of fall semester 2019, and The Retreat was the only place open. I didn’t know much going in, but the staff was extremely helpful right from the start. They answer any questions I have and are always available. The amenities are incredible, and I’m always at the pool for the great atmosphere and events going on. My favorite part may be the perks around exam time, though!
the retreat is a fantastic place to live. i love my community and especially all of the fantastic amenities. the bus route also comes in handy
So far the experience has been amazing. I am not living in the apartment currently but already feel very welcomed because of the staff and other residents at the retreat
I love the retreat! By far the prettiest place for off campus living. I have made some of the most awesome friends there. Everyone is so welcoming as well.
I love the amenities at the Retreat! Everyone I've talked to over the phone has been super helpful and nice. They seem generally happy to help me with any issues or concerns I have.
Other residents are very inconsiderate when it comes to noise levels at inappropriate hours. Wish the management would do more about making sure people werent being absurdly loud at 3am
Very much for your help and support you in whatever way you can get a good night's sleep and I will talk to you later I love you too baby girl and I can get it to me by the end of the day
I have really enjoyed staying hear. The house is great and beautiful. I have really enjoyed going to the pool and grilling especially on these warm days. I think the maintenance response time could be better though.
It’s a great neighborhood to live in while at Tech. The staff is always willing to help and quick. Everyone’s nice at the Retreat. Great amenities
It’s a great place to live in. Very nice amenities around the neighborhood. The staff is very nice and always willing to help. House is nicer than most places
my stay at the retreat was wonderful with amazing amenities and comfortable living. meeting new friends and being able to interact with the retreat community really made it feel like a home.
Amazing environment, couldn't start the day off better than chillin at the pool listening to music and at night hitting the hot tub before bed
Living at the Retreat has completely changed my college experience. I have loved living in such a social community and making so many new friends through the activities on site.
Love the experience. Having utilities included eith rent saves stress and neat gym. Like the view I got as well. This place was nice, overall loved the experience
The staff is super friendly! I would give 5 stars if the house wasnt dirty upon moving in, and also if there was a more efficient random roommate pairing system, but I feel i just had bad luck. The maintenance staff is nice as well. I also have to add that after the weekends theres a lot of trash that just stays there and no one picks it up, its gross and gives a bad image
The retreat community is awesome! The Amenities are great, I use the pool, hot tub, gym, and study areas all the time! The cottages are very nice and it is super convenient that we all have our own bedrooms, bathrooms, and walk in closets. The only thing that isn't necessarily the best about the retreat is the time that it take a maintenance request to get done but that has only been a problem for me a couple of times. All around a great place to live and the bus stops are so convenient!
Great community and nice study lounge with free nice coffee all day! Living in the retreat is definitely the best way to enjoy your life. Nice stuff and always helpful when you need
The retreat has a good aesthetic and a very nice clubhouse. However, the cottages are lower quality than expected. Most of the doors do not have complete seals and cold ar rushes in all the time.
Super great place for dogs with the huge back yards. Just wish you could have dogs at the pool, since they enjoy it so much! Otherwise really great community!
Great community and love the clubhouse. It is expensive and maintenance requests never go through. The houses are clean and maintained pretty well.
The retreat is an amazing place for a college student. I enjoy all the amenities that it offers especially the gym and the pool. As far as the apartment itself it exceeded expectations
Its great so far the Cottages are very well laid out, and the Parking situation is fair. The clubhouse is very clean and convenient as well.
Staff are really friendly and events are nice but there are too few. Internet is better than before but still not good. Noise can be pretty bad, even on weekdays.
Best student living at VT. Community staff is always friendly and helpful. Love the clubhouse, great place to study. Easy parking for when having guest over.
Love it at the retreat. For a while we had issues with our water and that was annoying but its finally been fixed and we haven't had an issue since! Allowing us to have a cat as been really great for all of us in the house. Also the fact that we're mostly left alone is really appreciated
I love the Retreat and all of its amenities. You get what you pay for, high prices translate to great customer service, prompt response to maintenance requests, and personal space in your cottage. Overall very happy here.
Great, super appliances, super lights, super smell, super parking space, overall just super. In addition super roommates, what else super can you ask for
The entire place is catered to make sure that you are having the best experience that you can have, living wise. The amenities are amazing, the services and staff are great, and the houses are awesome.
Love the community, home like feeling!! Customer service is phenomenal in comparison to my previous living situation. I really appreciate all of the benefits that come with living at the retreat
Very nice, poor quality and cheaply built but a lot of space and good amenities. Pool is really nice and gym is clean. Front desk is helpful and nice.
Great amenities and very friendly staff! So happy to live here! The staff help with any issues I may be having and reply in a timely manner.
It is great living at the retreat. The staff is always willing to help with any problems. The area is a great place to live at. The people are nice.
Living at the retreat has been an amazing experience, so much that we are renewing our lease but in a different cottage! The clubhouse is great the house layout is comfortable and everything is just amazing!
My experience so far has been great! The people here are very friendly and I love the amenities. The 24/7 gym is very convenient and the golf simulator is just awesome. I also like the size of the cottage and it’s a great upgrade from previous cramped apartments!
The outside appearance is what drew me in but the staff, amenities, and countless activities the retreat provides is what made me renew my lease
Great amenities within the clubhouse! There tends to be some dog poop due to residents not cleaning up after their pet, besides that, it’s an amazing place to live at.
Great amenities and super nice staff. There’s always contests and giveaways that make living here really fun and rewarding. The pool is by far my favorite thing about the Retreat.
It is a very homey environment with plenty of activities they provide weekly. They sometimes have food trucks that come or cater with other restaurants nearby. Staff is extremely helpful!
I have had a great experience living here! The clubhouse and amenities are amazing, my room is so nice and big, and I can always find parking!
The cottage itself is great I love the room I have, but my neighbors can be loud and tend to not pick up after their dogs. It’s like a minefield our in the backyard.
Great amenities and staff. I love living here. The staff is so nice and helpful. The amenities are great with free printing and a gym. Great place to live
The roommate matching part wasn't the best for this year but oh well, it's just a house. We all have clashing personalities and interests so we don't get along that well. The house itself is nice though, so there's that
I love living at the retreat so much. The people that work there always take care of the residents and the maintenance workers are so friendly. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. Every day after class I look forward to coming home to the retreat.
I absolutely LOVE the retreat, it has everything to offer that you can imagine, the staff truly cares about their residents, and the amount of things they do for us residents is insane. I could never have imagined that my experience would be as good as it has been. I 10/10 recommend living here
Love the community and its amenities. Will probably end up living here entire college career. Plus the staff is extremely nice and thoughtful. 10/10 would definitely recommend over the Edge
Of all the places around Blacksburg, the Retreat is definitely the best place to live. the facilities are all inclusive and the living spaces are very spacious.
Friendly staff, great amenities. Would live again but incredibly overpriced. Pool is nice and house is veryyyyyyy nice. Love the retreat!!!!
Very good experience. Amenities are nice. Staff has been welcoming, kind and easy to communicate with. I wish I could live here and not graduate
At first when i moved in my room wasn’t clean, next we had a huge spider problem that didn’t get resolved until they died due to the cold. The walls are thin so you can hear all your roommates and even the next door neighbors if your cottage is attached to something. It has great amenities and a nice pool. I like that i have my own bathroom.
I love the community it is beautiful and homey. I think the houses are a little poorly built but much nicer than any other development that students have to choose from
Very nice. Apartments are well taken care of and there are a lot of great amenities such as a pool and hot tub, a gym, a study area, and free coffee.
The retreat was a great place to live. The housing and office people are great. However on football weekends the parking at the retreat is terrible.
The retreat was a great place for me to live. I can go for a run or get a cup of coffeee whenever I want might be one of my favorite parts of living here. The only part I don’t like about living here is the speed bumps
At the beginning of the year the events at the clubhouse were enjoyable, for everyone and had enough supplies. However, as the year has progressed events in the clubhouse haven’t supplied enough for the entirety of its residents.
Love everything about this place. From the great hospitality by the staff to the plentiful amenities that are available to the residents. I will be sure to recommend this place to others.
I really love all the amenities the retreat has for us. They do have a lot of events which is really nice with free food. I would love to see more trivia nights and events like that l.
Living here so far has been great. The clubhouse is excellent and provides so many services that really are awesome like the pool, gym, hot tub, etc.
Living here has been a great experience! I love the layout and the community around the retreat. The staff is always super helpful and maintenance calls get answered right away.
Good very good Oliver love cat but I cannot find any cats. So, I draw a cat on my notebook. But the next day ,when I wake up , I see a dog. And her name is Brooklyn
Beuatiful apartment & amenities. Even so, maintenance services are extremely behind schedule and usually take a while to respond to requests.
My experience at the Retreat has been a great. I enjoy the housing i currently have and whenever there’s a problem the staff is there to fix it. I also renewed my lease for next year!
The house we got assigned has been great so far! Lots of space great backyard and porch. One complaint is the AC/heater unit is inconsistent and we have been unable to find a fix.
Overall atmosphere is great. The staff are always there to help and the wait time for a maintenance request is very little. Highly recommend!
First of all the club house is great i have used it constantly to go study and get work done! The free coffee is great too! I have enjoyed the laylut of our house and really like the helpfulness of the repair process!
The retreat definately is the ultimate college living. I love the space, activity, and freedom. Houses could use more high quality material but hey it's college.
Everything is really nice, but the internet speed after 7p.m. slows way down. I am still able to use it, but for an example. At 6am when nobody is up you can get a download speed near 60MB/s. Once 6 or 7 pm hits it slows down to almost 2 or 3 MB/s.
I enjoy my experience at the retreat a lot. Appliances such as washer and dishwasher have broken but have been fixed. Still waiting for them to fix my door. Otherwise, the space is amazing and I enjoy my stay.
Community is nice, but would like if they were more strict on littering. Besides that, lots of good opportunities and things to do in the club house.
Great community and awesome amenities! I love living at the Retreat because of how much it feels like home. I feel like I’m living in my own house back home.
I like the clubhouse for homework and the gym. Sometimes they can both get too crowded though. Maintenence is pretty easy and staff is super friendly.
I generally like the community but the parking is awful. Whenever I return home late at night from studying, there’s rarely any spots, much less any near my house which is quite a challenge. Other than that and some very loud parties, it’s been enjoyable.
It’s been pretty good so far. I like the free coffee and other stuff in the club house. There’s a lot of spiders around and the on call community assistant doesn’t answer though
I love the Retreat! My main issue is the maintenance. I can’t even put in a request 99% of the time and if I am allowed, it takes forever for someone to come fix the issue.
Very nice cottages and club house. The kitchens are very well done and I love being able to walk to the gym and pool every day. Plus the staff is very helpful.
Overall it is really nice and there are a lot of things to do when living here. The service to residents is really good as well. It is a little expensive though.
The Retreat is a great place to live. The best part about living here is the amazing amenities. I am so happy I chose to live at The Retreat.
Love the design of the apartment but it was extremely dirty when I arrived on the first day. The internet is also questionable at times and may or may not work correctly.
Was first worried about living off campus and not wanting to be home, but at The Retreat, you always feel at home. There's never a time where I feel myself avoiding going home.
The Retreat is an amazing place to live for college students. I enjoy walking my friends dog around the complex as well as all the anemities (Pool, gym, study areas, etc.). It’s definitely worth the price. The only “bad” thing about the Retreat is parking. They don’t tow so random people park here all the time making it hard for us to find spots close to our house. The worst part is game day parking. People think it’s free to park here so they do and catch the bus going to the game.
The complex is undoubtedly beautiful, if a little cheaply constructed. It is run a little like a dorm and very much geared towards undergrads. It's a little frustrating as a graduate student to have such stringent rules and so little control, but the staff is kind and understanding of this frustration. It's definitely the nicest place to live near tech for the money, though, so it's worth it to me. I would definitely think twice as a graduate student before living here though because of the rules and the shear number of undergrads.
The only complaint I have is that the water pressure on the third floor of my cottage is not ideal. It primarily affects the shower, especially if my floormate and I are using the showers at the same time.
Living in the retreats is one of the best choices I did. Everything is available and convenient. The slightest inconvenience was fixed in minutes
The area is pretty nice, and the buildings look nice. The only downside is that the walls and doors to the apartment are paper thin so you hear everything going on.
I really like this community. It has a good vibe between neighbors and the community clubhouse/pool. I have liked going to the events, the pool party was very fun. Its really nice to have our own townhouse, it feels very homey.
My experience so far has been really good. The community is really friendly and the facilities are very nice. In addition the staff and management seem very responsive to whenever we have a concern or question.
My experience has been great. The only issues I have had include finding parking on gameday, insects in my and my neighbor's homes (the bugs were there before we moved in).
I enjoy living at the retreat although I do not recommend the style house I was placed in. The 5 person courtyard is cramped and is easy to hear your roommates in their rooms. I also do not like the fact that the light and fan are connected on the same switch in the bathrooms.
I absolutely love being a resident at the Retreat. The community is so much more than another Blacksburg apartment complex. There are so many things to do including play volleyball, relax by the pool, relax in the sauna, and study in the super comfy clubhouse.
Love it here! Pool and clubhouse are my favorite place to go. Community is so nice and you can’t beat the views! I would 100% recommend the Retreat:)
It can be difficult to know where to begin. If you have never experienced this fount at the speed of light, it can be difficult to grow. The solar system is calling to you via expanding wave functions. Can you hear it?
Without truth, one cannot reflect. Only a being of the nexus may bring forth this wellspring of gratitude. The complexity of the present time seems to demand a refining of our dreams if we are going to survive.
Housing looks good, roomates are subpar due to lack of cleanliness, but everything works well. Water pressure is a little low, but all of these things can be amended. I just wish I had better roommates who cleaned up after themselves a little better.
Have had a few problems with other residents as well as the maintence people. The house has had a few problems since we have moved in just over a month ago.
Fun place to live with a lot of amenities. Having the bus so close by is great so you don’t need to deal with campus parking. Parking here though can be rough.
The Retreat has showed me nothing but great times and a comfortable place to live. Not only are the buildings very nice but so are the people.
The retreat is such an accommodating community with great, considerate staff and lots of events with free food. The pool is great, there's a gym and lots of dogs
I enjoy the actual housing complex itself. I like the trail that goes around the whole place. The bus that comes by is pretty handy as well. My only issue is that whatever quiet hours I thought we had q4e not really enforced, so it's difficult to study at night.
I love living here, it’s just that one of my roommates is a slob. The roommate matching system may need some improvement. Perhaps it would help to be in contact with potential roommates before anything is confirmed.
It is a great experience with awesome amenities. Everyone is so nice from the employees at the retreat to the residents. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else
It is a very nice complex visually and the price is great. The only problem is that the houses are built on a very low budget. We have a leak in our roof and a spider/ant infestation. All he appliances suck and maintenance is terrible. Pool is nice though.
I love it here a ton. The cottages are so spacious and nice it feels like a real townhouse. I wish the ready crew did not paint over the dudt in my room but other thsn that my house was perfect upon mive in day and it was super easy to check in!
Overall It is a good place to stay while in undergrad. I don't recommend it for graduate students because of the noise level at sometimes, but it is a great place to live and meet other students. You can really create some good social networking here and make friends. The amenities are awesome and everyone is really helpful.
I love living at The Retreat. There's plenty of awesome amenities such as the gym, pool, club house, dog park and walking trails. My cottage is homey and my neighbors never get too loud.
Honestly the retreat is one of the main reasons why I like to go to school in blacksburg. I am not really a big fan of rural environments, coming from a big city, and the retreat is like an escape from the rural environment.
It has been great so far the neighborhood is very nice and maintenance does a good job at fixing things. One of my complaints is that I have already had two things in my bathroom break in the first couple weeks so the quality of the small things and how they were made is questionable. Other than that it's been great.
its been a great experience living with people who understand what it means to be a good neighbor and respectful of other people's time and space.
The exterior look of the community is very good. Yet the interior is badly made. Seems like the construction was rushed. The kitchen cabinets doors are broken. The granite on the bathroom wash basin was not glued. The wooden floor is tilted.
I love it here. It’s clean, perfect amount of space, the landscaping is well kept, maintence is quick ans reliable, and my dog is very happy:)
Friendly community with wide range of demographics: young, older, guys, girls, etc. . The management and staff continuously strive to meet or exceed expectations. Grounds are beautiful and meticulously maintained. Lots of open green space and sidewalks
This has been a great experience living here. The housing is a very well fit and everyone has their own space. The Retreat is always looking for a way to treat you.
Really can’t complain. It’s a good community, with good houses, good amenities, and a good staff. Over all just excellent in every facet. I wouldn’t change anything.
I absolutely love living here. My favorite parts are the club house and easy transportation to classes so theres no neee for a parking pas. I also love the furniture in the house and that everyone has their own bathroom, and theres a guest half bath.
The life in the Retreat is very settled and chill. It is one of the best residential community in Blacksburg and I definitely would recommend the Retreat to my friends.
Moving in here was one of the best decisions I've made since coming to college. Love the community and facilities here at the retreat. The best pool in blacksburg is an added advantage.
The Retreat is probably one of the best complexes here in Blacksburg. The community does a lot for its residents, and the amenities such as the pool and 24 hour gym are hard to beat. I love studying in the club house. Also with both the Hethwood and Carpenter Blvd buses, its so easy to get to campus!
It’s pretty good. I’m probably gonna live here again next year so I definitely enjoy it. It’s a little expensive but I don’t really feel a need to move anywhere else
I've definitely enjoyed my time here, and I plan on renewing my lease for another year. The only thing I don't really like about this place is the amount of bugs. When doing our monthly deep cleaning, we realized we live with an absurd amount of spiders.
Great community and nice amenities. Love the resident activities like the pool party that the retreat hosts. I also really appreciate the coffee machine. The gym is really nice and high quality as well.
My experience in Retreat at Blacksburg is nothing but simply amazing. I love the community here and all the amenities that this place has to provide. Oh and not to forget one of the best swimming pool in Blacksburg.
love it here! everyone is so friendly and welcoming. the front desk workers are always very helpful and can always answer any questions that i may have.
the amenities are great and the clubhouse is always clean and has lots of fun things inside such as a gym and pool tables. Maintenance is prompt and quick. what I would like though is more study spaces.
we have a five bedroom house here and we enjoyed it. The shape and the size is good enough. Loved the club house, use it for study and have fun.
Absolutely love how personal the retreat is with their socials and how well they treat their residents! Beautiful grounds, and great amenities help make this a comfortable stay. 💕
Maintenance requests need to be filled more efficiently, other than that, I truly love living here! There have been little problems with the house, other than some bugs and such here and there.
This is my first year living here and I have mostly been happy. The staff is always very friendly. My only complaint is we have put in several maintenance requests and never hear back from them.
I like this place a lot, but most things are cheaply made and done. There are chips in my door, the paint was still dry when I moved in, the dishwasher didn't work and had to be fixed twice, there are ants everywhere, etc. It makes it hard to live here comfortably.
I love living at the retreat, it has been one of my favorite experiences at tech. The cottages are huge and spacious, the environment is friendly and all of the guest have formed a big community. The clubhouse is always holding fun events!!
I really like the Retreat. It’s in a great location and the cottages are perfect. The community is really inviting and I love when there is free food at the club house. I just wish it wasn’t so pricey.
Amazing community that provides everything you could ever need to fully enjoy your college experience. Well worth the premium price, with friendly and accommodating staff!
Everyone is so wonderful and helpful here at the retreat. With the luxurious living space and wonderful pool it's like every day is the weekend!
Living at the Retreat in Blacksburg is great. I really did not want to live in an apartment, and the Retreat's cottages offered me an affordable area to live near campus. The staff at the cottages are very helpful and responsive to my emails when questions arise.
Before moving into the retreat, the biggest complaint I heard about was noise. I'm here to tell you I haven't had any noise complaints and living at the retreat has been such a blessing. Pool and clubhouse area is amazing and everything in the unit works great!
great experience living at the retreat at blacksburg. great staff and amenities and i never had any major problems with my apartment utilities or functions which really helped quality of life
Like the gym and the clubhouse has a nice study area, so I could study after school. I am also glad the retreat managed to enforce rules of letting guests in to keep the area nice
Love this place, love the atmosphere and amenities. Pool is cool, glad there's a dog park nearby. My favorite thing has to be the free coffee in the clubhouse
Amazing experience so far. I moved in when the retreat had just opened. I was a little disappointed at first, because of how some things seem to have been rushed. Since then everything has improved a lot and I like how you continue to think about what can be done better. The activities and free food are always great!
its good, i like it. its good, i like it. its good, i like it. its good, i like it. Only been there once before, but the house was really nice and i had a great time.
I have enjoyed my time a lot. Good, comfortable apartments. The management and staff always tried to resolve problems if they could. Only moving away because of price.
I enjoyed the cottage, especially since it was very new. I did not like certain aspects, such as having my car towed from my own spot, but I very much liked how clean everything was.
The amenities of living here are amazing as well the staff that’s always there to help out. The only downside so some of the maintence upkeep that goes along with living here compared to other places.
It’s great! The community assistants are very helpful, especially Lauren!!!! It’s always kept very clean -especially the pool area! The starbucks machine is amazing
Salmon, andouille sausage,Olive Oil, red potatoes, garlic salt, shredded cheese, french loaf, half half, skinless chick high, dried basil seasoning
I love living in the retreat! The space of the apartments its amazing and the view cant be beat. I didnt give it five stars though because some of the tings are made cheaply and it shows, and I dont like how maintenance can just show up any time and walk in.
The house has so much room and really is structured nice. But it takes a long time to get things fixed and there is lots of dog poop around.
the houses are great & so are the amenities but the trash situation is a major inconvenience and management should really strive to do something about it. Also, people littered in front of my house all the time and there were always dangerous things such as broken glass and razors on the property.
Things have been good. Only thing is we have a hole in the wall which we paid to repair but still hasn't been repaired. We have reminded maintenance that it needs to be fixed however it still has not been fixed.
Management frivolously spends our money on stupid rewards and goat yoga sessions instead of cleaning up broken glass in parking lots and not letting dumpsters overflow. Management is more concerned with writing residents up with lease violations and fines than providing a safe, clean environment for its residents. This is the only student housing community I have heard of that does quarterly housing checks looking for violations under the guise of an air filter change, which for the record isn't always actually changed. Residents are notified of upcoming checks and given specific dates and hours of when management may be entering apartments however they do not adhere to these hours and often come late in the evening. Living at The Retreat provides less privacy than is found in on-campus housing and quite honestly makes its residents uncomfortable as they never know when random men may be entering their apartment. Maintenance requests while always responded to are a pathetic excuse for maintenance. There is no way to know when the maintenance people will be coming to do the maintenance and The Retreat continues to show how they value profits over a decent living experience as they inform their maintenance people to make the minimal repairs necessary to solve a problem, for example our apartments back door is completely warped and left a large gap in the corner allowing weather and insects into the house, maintenance's solution was to put weather proofing strips on the inside of the door, a horrific and ugly solution. Continuing on the poor construction of the "cottages" it is clear how quickly the buildings were put up and cheaply constructed as only two years in you can see every single stud popping out of the wall and the last weekend of the school year we found 9+ rusty three inch nails on our deck that had fallen out of the roof, makes you feel safe doesn't it? The Retreat is horribly managed and values profits above all else, as evidenced by the sky high rent and useless amenities (the pool was closed the entirety of spring semester). Stop wasting our money and find some long term solutions instead of providing alcohol to underage individuals and Retreat sponsored events for it's employees. Unfortunately I am locked in for another year at this dump and look forward to seeing what else The Retreat can waste my money on. Quite frankly it's embarrassing to live here and life is most definitely not better in a "cottage" if I dare compare these cardboard thin walls to a real domicile. Thanks for nothing.
There was terrible service within the community staff, lack of amenities that were promised (like printing and gym being stocked), and overall were very unprofessional.
Overall I had a wonderful experience living here. The maintenance staff is always quick if a problem needs to be fixed and the exterior cleanliness of the community is always kept! Plus there are a lot amenities that you don’t get with other apartments such as the sauna!!
I loved the Retreat community at Blacksburg, but there are a couple of things that could be better! More study space + better repairs for when the furniture would break. We had a drawer break and they "fixed it" 3 times, but ultimately just had to take the drawer out and never fixed it. Also the furniture is bit cheap and breaks easily. Lastly, I wish they had a better situation for trash, its pretty far away and hard when you don't have a car.
Great housing and great community and the amenities are awesome. The events are a lot of fun but I wish there were more and the Internet was faster. :(
The staff is super nice, it’s a clean environment, we love it here. I have a lab mix, so the walking trail around the property is convenient, along with the dog park
I enjoyed it for one, and am glad I will be coming back next fall to stay at The Retreat. I am not really a fan of rural communities and more of an urban person. The Retreat itself feels like its own little community outside of Blacksburg rural atmosphere. When I graduate, I am going to miss this place.
Living at the Retreat has been fun and I love the amenities a lot. However, I feel like the quality of the home does not align with what I pay for (almost 800 with electricity a month). The house has experienced many issues that require maintenance help and I feel like rent shouldn't have been raised this much. If I were attending school next year, I'd probably move out.
The apartments are really nice and I often enjoy the amenities provided by the retreat. The workers also always seem to have a great attitude!
the wifi can be better, the coffee machine doesn't always work, the gym is always really hot, house is perfect to live in just loud when windy outside.
I love the experience that I have gotten from the retreat and I love how helpful the staff is with problems that occur. The only wish is that I wish there were more trash cans since the trash sometimes overflows
My experience here has been a good one. I enjoy the atmosphere of this place. especially feeling like a home rather than an apartment. All the amenities here are great, and I am glad I have lived here
I love living at the retreat in Blacksburg. They offer so many nice amenities, the only complaint I have is it is really noisy on weekends. I also love how big the rooms and bathrooms are.
- more study rooms
- more gym mats ***
- better club house maintenance
- people who pay for covered parking should not be allowed to park anywhere else; they should be forced to park in their covered spots at all times. When I come back from a late night of studying and there are no open spots anywhere close to my house except covered spots it's extremely frustrating because I will get towed if I park there but people who have covered spots don't get towed if they park elsewhere
Great staff, quick maintenance repairs. I just wish there was a service that picked up our trash. I think that the walls are a little thin in the house, but that isn't a big deal.
The houses are built poorly, the walls are thin, the internet sucks, and there is never any parking. The only reddeming auality is the staff.
Love the parking and the amenities. I would like to have more bandwidth and a higher speed. Having the internet slow down to 15-30 mbps at midnight is annoying.
A great place to live. All of the amenities that are provided are great. The gym is very nice and has great equipment. The community as a whole is very clean and friendly.
Decent apartment complex. The cottages themselves have a few structural issues, like cracks above doorframes, but overall are much nicer than other apartments in the area. The rent is expensive, but it is inclusive of pretty much all utilities. The clubhouse is awesome, and the front desk staff is always helpful and kind. The maintenance staff is also great, they've come out to fix minor issues in our cottage within hours of putting in a request multiple times, even after hours.
I was lucky enough to live here my senior year and am convinced the Retreat is a big reason why I'm partly dreading graduation! Amenities are fantastic and overall lifestyle is the best available in Blacksburg.
The community is beautiful, the staff is friendly, and the community offers great amenities. However, after living in the house for a couple months, my roommates and I noticed signs of poor building quality. For example, a plumbing failure which flooded our bottom level and loose drywall. Also, maintenance is generally very good but for one issue in particular required us to submit 2 maintenance requests and the problem still was not fixed.
Community is fantastic! There is always something to do at the retreat. The golf simulator is top notch, the hottub is great after a long day, and the club house is perfect for studying.
When I first moved in everything was great! But now things have kind of settled, literally in that my house has a lot of cracks from the whole thing settling. We've put in a couple work orders and they all get filled pretty fast. The pool and everything is great, love all the amenities! The staff are also very friendly and do their best to help with any issues we have! Fridays are pretty crazy so if you don't want to live in a party area I wouldn't suggest living on MacArthur St. lol
I have really enjoyed living at the retreat this year! beautiful property and great amenities, i especially love the sauna and the walking trail
i love that the managers get people involved with the community, get people together and doing things. I don't like how slow maintenance is, and the houses aren't really sealed well for the cold. The only other complaint I really have is the bathroom, and that's just because there isn't a switch for the fan.
Amazing community filled with wonderful people. Great Staff and are quick to make repairs. Overall its a great community and I enjoy living here.
Front desk is always very helpful and friendly. I have put in a few maintenance requests for minor issues like my door leaking air. The maintenance crew came out right away each time! They are very nice every time that they are working on my cottage!
I absolutely love living at the Retreat. My cottage has turned into me and my roommates' home and we are already dreading the day we have to move out in a couple years. Thanks for making it such a great place to live!
My second semester here has definitely been an improvement. The internet issues are mostly fixed. The maintenance team has done a great job fixing any issues. The primary problem we've had is the terrible insulation and weather proofing. Our house is leaking heat from pretty much everywhere. The the doors, the windows, even the outlets on the exterior walls. It's costing us hundreds. Our electricity bill was over $250 last month.
Also, the front of our house looks like a run down slum. The luxurious "landscaping" is dead plants and washed-away wood chips mixed with a steady stream of reappearing trash and alcohol bottles. This is vastly due to the poor drainage of the roof causing a 24ft waterfall.
I’ve really enjoyed living at the Retreat for the past 2 years. The first year they were really on top of maintenance, but the special resident events were hardly ever advertised. The second year they’ve gotten really lax about responding to maintenance requests, but the resident events are a little more well known.
The complex is extremely nice. The environment is very friendly and the amenities are plentiful and extraordinary. I can't wait to live at the retreat, I anticipate it very much.
I love the community, it is a great environment to live in. The retreat has so many incredible amenities. I've renewed my lease, and I cant wait to live there next year.
The retreat is the best place to live in Blacksburg. I really enjoyed my stay here. The neighbors are very nice and quite during the week.
The clubhouse is perfect.
I love living at the Retreat but have faced some issues with the home already. There are way too many maintenance requests made for a new complex. I also found out that our rent was more expensive this year while some other cottages kept there rate. If I wasn't graduating, I would find a new place next year because of this reason.
The wifi has a lot of issues. The gym does not get restocked with cleaning wipes often. There tends to not be enough paper by the printer. The walls are also very thin.
It was a good experience, I enjoyed my time at this community the Retreat. The staff was great and unlike many other places always available.
Very nice place to live and lots of amenities. The only thing is that it is clear that everything was built very quickly so we have had lots of problems in our cottage.
Amenities are really nice but rent is a bit too expensive, I think. Houses have some maintenance issues and the internet can be slow or unreliable.
Very nice place to live. Even though it is expensive compared to other Blacksburg apartment complex's, it is definitely worth the money. The best part is that is has a bus route that only goes to the campus and the retreat.
The community is really nice and is at very good location. The apartment buildings are beautiful and apartments are clean and nice. Plenty of parking spots around the house. Overall excellent community.
I love living at the Retreat! I love that the apartments feel like homes rather than apartments. The staff and residents are friendly, which makes the environment even better.
The neighborhood is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. However, the quality of my unit was very poor from misaligned locks on doors to drywall chipping off. Generally maintenance would quickly address any requests we submitted but for some bigger projects, they would halfway finish the job and we wouldn't hear back from them for a week or more before they returned to finish, and when they did finish they left a mess and/or equipment in our unit.
Everything is great and I like the community a lot. The only thing I have a problem with is the wifi going getting messed up once in a while.
It’s a great place to live. The ammenities at the clubhouse are great and convenient. Staff are all friendly and kind. The whole community is filled with great and friendly people.
It has been great whenever we have a maintenance problem it is promptly fixed. The cottage itself is very spacious and we are paying relatively cheap rent when compared via square footage.
I️ love living at the retreat at Blacksburg. The community is such an incredible place and the view is just amazing. I️ could not imagine living anywhere else!
Great amenities, nice houses, good staff, not enough parking, horrible speed bumps, good appliances, easy to pay bills, good events though they are always when I am at work
I really like being a resident here! The actual cottages are great and so is the clubhouse and one thing I really like is the amount of parking because it's so much easier than having people find visitor parking
I have enjoyed my time at The Retreat so far. Maintenance has been great with fixing our requests very quickly and I appreciate that. Love my house and the look of The Retreat in general.
My experience at the Retreat has been the best possible. I remember moving in and complaining about the cost but after searching many other residential spots and leaving there for a while, it has simply been worth it.
Great experience! Wouldn't want to live anywhere else in blacksburg. The pool and amenities are fantastic and I am glad that I was able to live here for my sophomore year!
It is expensive at the retreat. Wifi doesn't work. Don't like the fact the pool is only fractionally used. The furnishing is nice. Bed is fantastic.
The atmosphere is great and I enjoy using the clubhouse to study and hangout. During the summer, the pool was the best out of any in Blacksburg.
The retreat has been an awesome off-campus place to live at this year! I love that I have my own room and my own bathroom so I don't have to worry about sharing with someone else! The bus stop is super convenient too!
Overall the community is very nice. There are a few specific problems that we have had with the cottage its self and security. One of our toilets flooded upstairs and our ceiling started leaking.
Almost everything about living at the retreat is great. The houses are comfortable, community is lively, and social spaces superb. I only wish the hottub stayed on a little longer and the atm had cash in it more often.
It is so peaceful living at the Retreat. I love how quiet it is and all the amenities. The only downside is that it’s far from downtown, but that’s what Uber is for!
The apartment and amenities are amazing. The staff looks to help you in any way they can. The only two problems I've had is our dryer stopped working and wasn't fixed for 3 weeks, and when crossing the grass areas around the complex, there is dog poop everywhere that owners have not picked up.
The Retreat has great amenities and the cottages are very well built. The one downside is how crazy the dumpsters get filled (I have to live near them)
AMAZING place to live, it's like being on a vacation all the time. Cute houses and a little farther from campus so it's refreshing to look out and see cows in my backyard instead of the classroom I just had a test in. Clubhouse is amazing for studying, the pool is so much fun, and the gym is great and convenient. Only complaint is there are a lot of spiders, but what can you do, nature has both pros and cons :) would 100% recommend living here to anyone!
Love it here!! The people who work at the front desk are always so friendly and helpful. The facilities are brand new and soooo nice. And living right next door to cows is pretty awesome
Very nice to live here, but my biggest problem with it is the location. Otherwise it’s been a blast. I’ve used most of the amenities and they’ve all been clean and nice to use.
The Retreat provides terrible internet. Also, there is terrible construction where I can hear the people next door constantly. The walls are very thin and it can smell bad.
The houses are some of the nicest in blacksburg for students. it is very convenient if you have a pet. The only issue i'd say is sometimes the internet is slow depending on where you are in the retreat and whether or not its during peak hours. other than the its very nice all the amenities are kept up.
the retreat is a great community! the maintenance is great, the amenities are unique and the staff is awesome! I have resigned for a second year and am very interested in this community and am enjoying it thoroughly
Very good ammentities and housing situation but lots of extra cost like a convenience fee for paying online. Also rent for people renewing goes up
I am really enjoying residence in The Retreat at Blacksburg for many reasons such as, the club house has a lot of things I used to use it like billiards, and fittness Center. Also, the apartment is very nice and new furniture.
The Retreat is an all around great place to live if you can afford it. It is a pricier than other options at $700 a month plus electricity, but it is individual leases so if a roommate ditches you don't have to cover his rent. That's what sold it for me.
Good service, great amenities, but just not the best move-in/transition experience with apartment being filthy, ant problem, clothes left from past tenants
It’s not bad. I will live here again next year. But the problem is that there are bugs, specifically at the beginning of the year we had a moth infestation.
I really love living at the Retreat! It gives off such a home feeling and makes me never want to leave! I love having the privacy of my room while also having the opportunity to hang out with friends and roommates in the big living area.
Maintenance is always fast in responding to problems, which is nice. The clubhouse is always clean, and I really like going there to study especially with the coffee machine there!
Great apartments, but however disappointed in the cleanliness and readiness for move in. We still have scuffs and scratches on our walls, door, and in some bedrooms from the previous tenant that we marked on our move in sheet and still haven't been fixed. Also my carpet was not cleaned from the previous person that lived in my bedroom, so that wasn't a good first impression. Otherwise, the amenities are great and the apartments are nice.
I love the homes here. I feel so thankful as a college student to be living in such a beautiful community! I also love all of the amenities. The only downside is that there tends to be a lot of parties in the community and it can be really difficult to find parking on a weekend.
The rooms and the amenities are pretty good. it's a little pricey but there are a lot of extras that you get for it. The internet could definitely use some work though.
Rent is expensive for what you get, mantinence team doesn't seem to care, and it is kind of far away from everything. I have to drive everywhere because the bus is never on time as well
The retreat is great! I love all the amenities it comes with! I enjoy using the gym almost every day and the Starbucks machine in the club house rocks!
I have had an extremely positive experience living at the retreat thus far. The community is amazing, the staff has been incredibly helpful, and has been able to help me with any problems I was having.
I have really enjoyed living at the retreat vt this year because of the beautiful community landscape and fun events that they sponsor throughout the year.
I really like the pool area and each roommate has their own restroom. My only complain is there’s no assigned parking so coming home on Fridays is awful.
For the most part, the Retreat has been a positive living experience. There is a large array of amenities that are nice. The only major downside, is the choice of internet provider, Elauwit. There have been many consistent issues with this provider, however recently they have gotten a little better.
Sometimes the internet goes out which is not fun. My other complaint would be building materials are not resistant enough to endure casual everyday life. Other than that, the facilities, furnishings, and amenities are fantastic.
it has been great! despite the moths in our attic and spiders on the first floor. but we got the problem taken care of quickly! now were looking forward to the rest of the year
I love the community and the house is exactly what I was looking for. The fact that I have my own bathroom and the washer/dryer are in unit is what made me decide to lease there. But there is a bug problem
good place to live, but there are lots of bugs. Also the fan and the light switch functions are on one switch and it is quite annoying to use the light and have the fan blaring at the same time all the time
The community is very nice and all of the amenities are awesome! The only thing I wish was different is how often and late the carpenter bus comes.
The Retreat is a great community to be a part of. The only two issues would have to be the internet and the frequency of trash pickup. The dumpsters are usually overflowing.
The property is very nice and the atmosphere is very fun college town. The units are nice and the staff is very friendly. There are a ton of options to live in too!
I have loved living here so far! The amenities are great and the house itself is comfortable. We haven't had any major issues yet, while my friends living in other communities have.
Im a pretty big fan of the retreat Im not gonna lie. However, I have been extremely dissapointed with the quality of the wireless connection (wifi) around this place. It like uhhhhhh makes it incredibly challenging to do homework with connection this poor,
The Retreat is the best place to live in Blacksburg. The community amenities are really nice, and the staff are helpful and responsive to any problems.
The property is in a beautiful location just off of campus. I wish the houses were built a little better with a higher quality interior for the amount of money we pay each month for rent
I like living here and I see staff working very hard to let us have a nice place to live. However, some residents are not about following the living rules.
Loved living here for sophomore and junior year. I think this is the best place to live in blacksburg (when factoring in price). It’s also super convenient that you only pay the electric bill
Although expensive and a bit far from campus, the amenities and community are both excellent. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, and the apartments are spacious and beautiful.
I love living in the community because of the amenities, but the noise is very irritating. I live near the traffic circle and people like to drive very loudly around the circle.
I love it here! The internet is the only big issue that I’ve had a problem with living here. Parking can get a bit bad here too on weekends.
I have really enjoyed my stay in the Retreat at Blacksburg thus far. the cottages are very nice new and spacious. my only issue is that it is very expensive and do I really need that nice of a house as a college student.
I love the place aside from the GIANT spiders that we can't get rid of but living here has been an amazing experience. The staff is amazing and I love the office and the ammenities.
The Retreat has been a great place to live. I am really enjoying all the different activities that the Retreat offers for us to do. So thank you!
Community and apartment are great. 4 stars because i still have broken tile in my bathroom that has been there since i moved in and hasn’t been replaced yet.
My overall resident experience has been great so far with only minor problems. The wifi definitely needs to be improved upon with constant wifi outages. The furnished units use incredibly cheap products that are a hassle just to keep from falling apart. The hot tub was almost unusable because of how dirty it seemed in the beginning of the year. Other than these minor problems, my living experience has been fun, enjoyable, and relaxing.
It's nothing like I expected. The houses were clearly built for quantity, not quality. The internet is decent, at best. The singlemost inconvenient thing is the parking situation on big party nights. I've had to park a mile away from my house in (fear of repercussions if I otherwise parked in the 'premium' covered spots).
All things considered, the staff and contacts are wonderful. All of these issues are with the parent company itself.
Such a good place to live. Love the clubhouse and amenities. The people who work in the clubhouse do a great job and are very friendly. Wifi could be improved.
My experience has been great so far! My roommates are fantastic and the house is great. So far the only problems have been with bugs and the walls connecting the 4 buildings r very thin because I can hear whenever someone plays music at any volume.
The Retreat has proven to be a safe and comfortable place that I am glad to be a part of. The housing is amazing and the staff is always so kind.
The amenities of this apartment community at the Retreat is amazing! Nothing in the Blacksburg area can even compete with this wonderful community. Amazing cottage, and an amazing clubhouse!
The amenities are amazing and everyone at the front desk is super friendly. The only issue I've had is that maintenance took a whole week to come shut off my alarm that was ringing constantly and I was pretty annoyed by it.
Nice houses, need better way to get rid of trash. Speed bumps are really bad and seem to damage car. Get rid of them. Making us sign leases this early is not nice
All the amenities are really great, it is nice having the bus stop at the clubhouse, maintenance is usually very fast in their work. Im living here again next year.
It’s been like a dream, and I know when I leave it’s not gonna be fun. Having all of the amenities we have is really nice, like the pool sauna lounge workout room. It’s overall a great experience.
It was ok. I was honestly expecting more. Internet is down alot. Room is great though. Also, its just extremely far from campus. I like the retreat just I think its over rated.
good price for all of the amenities plus the cable and wifi and water included. The staff is friendly and usually wants to help. I've had problems with loud noise (at 1 AM) and partying/residual trash all over the complex that doesn't seem to both the workers.
The retreat has never failed to impress my roommates and myself. The amenities are incredible and the cottage is comfy and gives a feeling of home.
It has great amenities and great community atmosphere. We have had very minimal problems, but maintainence comes right away. However, the wifif is very glitchy and goes in and out frequently.
My experience here has been great so far. It has its ups and not too many downs. The people residents there are great and the staff working is amazing. The only thing I could complain about are the annoying speed bumps.
I love the Retreat! The community is great, the amenities are wonderful -- however some things like the internet and a few things in my house that were half-asses by the builders.
The cottages are very nice. There were a few problems in the beginning involving the toilets and the air conditioning but they got fixed. It is beautiful.
The houses themselves are very nice, although moving in the subleasers had left the place in poor condition. The community is very nice, the Snapchat story give sways and games are very cool.
I love it here. The only problems I had is the condition the apartment was in when I moved in. There was dirt and food everywhere. The staff is great though.
Overall the people here are nice, however, there are often times parties late into the night and people don't always pick up their trash in the morning.
I have enjoyed everything except the internet has gone out a couple times. Also, my room is near the AC so it is either very hot or very cold
Enjoy living hear however the house feels cheap with a lot of construction flaws. Sucks pool was only useful for like 2 weeks. Love the golf sim though.
This place is awesome, even though we get wifi problems from time to time I do not feel uncomfortable. I am already, thinking about renewing.
The retreat is an overall great experience. First off it’s close to campus and their are three buses that make commuting easy. The housing is roomy and comfortable. I love how much room the closets have to store stuff. The amenities are probably one of my favorite parts. The clubhouse gym has good equipment and the study spaces are perfect for getting work done.
a fun place to live with lots of amenities, i did experience some problems with managment not because of the people but because of beauracracy
Super responsive service desk and maintenance staff. They are always very friendly and the amenities are wonderful. I especially enjoy the convenience of the gym
The Retreat is a great place to live. The houses are well kept and the amenities are great. The neighborhood itself is beautifully taken care of as well. The price it costs to live here is a little pricy and there are definitely cheaper options around Blacksburg but it is still a great place to live.
The Retreat really exerts a friendly environment. The staff in the clubhouse is always polite and helpful. I like how all the residents intermingle during resident activities. it really gives a sense of community.
Nice community but internet, which I need to do homework and classwork, is frankly unacceptable and there are carpet nails throughout my bedroom which have cut my feet on more than one occasion. Facilities are lovely and clubhouse is very nice.
This is a very good place to live. The apartments are the nicest in Blacksburg, and the amenities are plentiful. The gym is very nice and hardly ever busy.
Besides some trouble with moving in, i love living at the retreat, the countless amenities and friendly and knowledgeable staff really put the retreat at blacksburg over the top
My experience, overall, has been perfect. The cottage is great and the amenities are just what I expected. My main suggestion is to find a better internet provider.
The carpet doesn't completely cover the floor so the nails stick up a bit. Everything else is pretty nice. The floors are hardwood which is nice as well.
After a search of enzymes with [2Fe-2S] bound by cysteine and histidine I find that Riesky-type proteins fit the bill. There motifs have two cysteine and two histidines with two cysteines binding one iron and two His binding the other iron in each [2Fe-2S] cluster. The problem is that the sequences MMP0270 and MJ0119 homologs (Table 1) do not have any of the sequence motif for Riesky-type proteins which is a CXHX15-47CX2H motif. 1 There are, however, some important similarities such as each motif contain 2 cys and 2 his. A difference is that first C H pairs is reversed in the MMP0270 and MJ0119 homologs and the number amino acids between the of second C-H pairs is increased from 3 to 5. The presence of two such 2Fe-2S cluster in a protein appears to have never been described. The redox potentials Rieske-type [2Fe-2S] clusters can range from -150 to +400 mV 2
Great day and I will be there at the same time I don't have a car so I can get a ride to the airport on Sunday and I will be there at least I can do that for you and your family a
The apartments are so spacious and allows everyone to have there own space. The community is beautiful and the amenities make it one of the best places to live in Blacksburg.
Overall, I did have a great experience living here at the retreat, but there were multiple things that I was sad about. The walls are paper thin, there were multiple damages to the house that we had to report, and they raised our rent cost saying it was a “special renewal deal”, when in reality we are going to be paying $15 extra for no reason. Either way, it’s a great location and a great community.
Ive really enjoyed it. I dont like how there is broken glass and dog poop everywhere around my house. I also dont like the internet going out.
Living at the retreat is nice but it has some negatives. The wifi is very unreliable and the office is not always willing to help with a problem.
The apartments are very nice but the policies are horrible. The wifi sucks and as a student, you can't have wifi glitching out on you. Also too expensive for the worth.
I've had a great time living in the retreat, very friendly and helpful staff, and the amenities are the best of any apartment complex in Blacksburg.
The outside of each building looks nice, but once you go inside you can tell that it was shoddily built. For example, in the second year of existence the molding on our stairs is coming off. Also, when I went to mount my TV and discovered that the wall studs aren’t evenly distributed.
Pricy place to live but very nice and clean apartments. Have had electrical issues but they were fixed immediately with no additional cost or trouble.
The Retreat at Blacksburg is a very nice place to live. However, the trash company does not come and pick up trash enough and there are always bags piled up on the stairs that smells.
The houses are nice but the amentities are not held to the standard of what they should. The staff are nice, it isnt their fault. Overall I think the places are really nice but not worth $700+ a month.
It is great here I really enjoy the community. The pool and clubhouse are very convenient and helpful. The people at the front desk are always very kind along with everyone else who works here.
The retreat is nice. I like having a house versus an apartment. The pool is awesome and so is the clubhouse. I love living next to a bunch of my friends.
Really enjoy living hear, except the wifi network isn't that good, and needs to be fixed. Having the wifi go out during the week is unacceptable because there are assignments due.
I have lived at the Retreat for 2 years now and will be so sad when I have to leave! They are always on top of issues and provide a lot of free food!
I think the community is great. The overall experience is amazing. I wish there would be a yearly maintence fix of the appliances or of creaky doors and stairs.
Very high cost for poorly built housing. The community is wonderful , but again, the houses aren't quite worth the high costs. Maintenance and staff are very good though.
I was overall happy with the Retreat until I found out our rent was raised this year (even though our neighbors' rent stayed the same). The wifi is STILL having issues. I always feel scared taking online tests/quizzes because I feel like I will be disconnected at any moment.
Living at the retreat has been very enjoyable so far. I have been using the clubhouse to study, work out, and I have even been to the sauna a few times.
Overall, the Retreat is a nice place to live, with great parking, but homes are cheaply made. Also Chick-Fil-A Fridays need to be loongerrr.
I love living at the retreat ! The only drawback is that the WiFi keeps disconnecting. Everything else is great! They answer my emails in a timely manner and the people at the clubhouse are very welcoming!
The retreat has a lot of great amenitities like free coffee, spacious rooms, nice club house with a great pool, and many more! I love living here I just wish they would likit guest parking because sometimes its impossible to find parking at night
Amazing! I love all the amenities and events :) I also really love the free giveaways. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great place to live!!
Had a few issues during move in with the condition of the apartment, as they were put up pretty quickly and some parts of the house reflected that. However thw staff and maintenance are very quick to reply and fix any issues, and the neighborhood is gorgeous. Convenient location as well.
So far the retreat has been great. I have not moved in yet but throughout the lease signing process and pre-move in everything has been easy. And considering I have been located in Europe since starting this process and want be able to visit until I move in it's amazing.
I like the Retreat a lot. Amenities are great and parking is always available. Please keep doing fun resident events! I really love all of the free stuff. It makes living there so much better.
The Retreat is a great apartment community to live in. It has a Starbucks coffee machine, pool tables, gym, and several other amenities to take advantage of as a resident.
Maintainance and staff very friendly and helpful. There has been an issue with broken beer bottles and crumpled cans left around the property, and residents not cleaning up after their pets. Also, the walls are kind of thin, so you can hear everything your neighbors are doing.
While I occasionally have noise problems, the community is overall very great to live in and I would definitely suggest it to a friend! The amenities are great and worth the cost of rent!
it great I love it down here that is why I am planing to live there because it is the best place in Blacksburg and the price is somehow reasonable
It has great customer service and people are always willing to help. When I was signing my contract the people at the front desk were very helpful with information that confused me. Signing the lease was a very smooth process.
The Retreat is a great place to live. It has the best amenities by far and geat staff. The only downside is while thouse look very nice. They are poorly constructed, but it's college housing so not a huge deal.
Amenities and houses are nice on the outside. Appliances are fairly good. Insulation and heating during the winter could use some work. Wifi could be improved
I am impressed with how many nice things the office does for the residence (free foods, etc.). I am happy living here and am re-signing my lease next year.
Love the community and the friendliness of everyone. Beautiful accommodations and living. Nothing but pumped to live here next semester! Thanks 😌
You guys are doing a good job other than the occasional leasing office unprofessionality. Otherwise, what an awesome neighborhood and place to live!
I like it , it is so wonderful. I heard it from one of my friend who was lived there before , I used to visited him and I enjoyed the view and the place
I haven't moved in yet, but the leasing staff is really nice and helpful. I have had some problems with the security deposit and they let me have more than enough time to sort it out.
Pretty good, i do not have many conplaints. One major thing is that the wifi has been continuously going on and off recently which has been frustrating.
I love living at The Retreat with the great staff and my best friends. Its always a good time and I have everything I could possibly need!!!
Great incentive to earn points while also immersing people in what I think will be a wonderful community. The Retreat is the cleanest, most efficient housing area in Blacksburg that I have encountered.
The retreat is great, and I love the modern and new features. Amenities are great. However I wish the services to apply & accept to live there were better.
I think this is a fun site that allows you to connect with The Retreat! I wish the rewards were a bit better, but are still exciting. So far, so good!
I would not recommend anyone to live here next year unless if they were my worst enemy. My living experience individually has been okay but my roommates have gone through a lot with toilets not working and water damage that the Retreat refuses to pay for. Also the dishwashers are not good because you have to wash everything beforehand. Maintenance also never fixed my roommates faulty bathroom, management just let her move downstairs, and decided to avoid the problem that way. So now, the person who lives in that room next year will deal with the same issues she did.
This is the best place to live! The community is awesome, the bedroom is roomy and comfortable. The closet and kitchen are extremely big and everything else is perfect.
The only thing I would change is having more trash bins. There is only one for the extremely large compound and I have to put my trash in my car and drive there because it is close to a ten minute walk.
I think the amenities were a little overrated because we could basically only use the pool/hot tub for a four-week period. The house is pretty awesome but a little bit pricey considering the distance from campus and aforementioned lack of relevant amenities
I love living at the Retreat! The office staff are always so nice and helpful, there's always something to do in the complex during the week, and they address all your problems so quickly!
It's a great community. The club house have gym, swimming pool, and study bar. And the view here is really good. It's a lovely community. Everything is amazing.
Had a little refrigerator problem but besides that its been great! Loving the club house and amenities as well as having my own room and bathroom.
Very nice place to live in. Amenities are great and the staff is very nice. Love the cottage and bus stops are very close. Had some problems at the beginning but they were fixed in a short time
The Retreat is pretty amazing in terms of living and amenities! There are a few issues in regards to the original conditions of many of the houses at move in, utility set up, and several other things. However the customer service provided while working through these issues has been excellent!
I totally loved the location of The Retreat and I enjoy being at my place every evening. The house is pretty good and I like the overall plan of the townhouse I am living in. Maintenance guys are very active and fast in getting things done asap.
I love the community and it's amenities. The community is kept clean and relaxing. The staff is friendly and always eager to help. Can't wait to re-issue my lease for next year!
The community is beautiful, faster/better maintenance would be great though. Many issues when we first moved in, but they have since been solved. Great community feeling!
Love living here - awesome place to live and the service is great. If there is ever an issue or something that you're not sure about there is always someone willing to help!
I love it!!! I have no complaints!! The place is awesome!! People are nice!!! Best place to live in Blacksburg!! go Hokies!!!!! Woo!!! Great place to live
I love the retreat. The pool is amazing, the gym has anything you could need, the walking path is super convenient, and the houses are SO NICE!!
So far, living at the Retreat has been great! All the workers are friendly and I like what the clubhouse has to offer. Our house is adorable as well.
Fantastic! Everything exceeds expectations. The clubhouse is amazing and always clean. The pool is enormous and looks nice. The staff is also very friendly
I've been having a great experience with the Retreat so far. Everyone has been super helpful and knowledgeable about all the questions i've asked.
I love it here, my house choice, location, clubhouse, the feel of the neighborhood. We need just visitor parking spaces and we would be all set!
This is the most cheaply made complex. I feel that the number of issues and work orders we put in was unnecessary and our cottage should have more time spent on it. Plus, the walls are very thin and we can hear our loud neighbors easily. I will not live here next year. Plus, staff is uneducated on issues and does not communicate well with maintenance.
It's been great so far. I don't really have much complaints, and I especially like the soundproofing of the rooms, because I need some peace and quiet sometimes, and roommates can be (very) noisy. The only problem is the cost of course, but you get what you pay for, so that's fine, I suppose.
Great neighborhood and area, only complaint is the windows/exterior door upstairs allow some air in and it's very easy to hear people outside the house.
Signing up takes a while with the lease, simplebills, insurance, and the clumsy website. But the retreat is amazing after all that. The homes were made big, and spacious and the amenities are very generous.
For a new apartment complex, the Retreat is doing a great job. There are little minor things that need to be worked on, but overall doing a great job
I've felt at ease throughout this entire process. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, it took all the stress out of signing the lease! Not to mention the space itself, which is even more amazing than you've heard!
I love living with y'all! It's been a great experience so far. Such a nice community and the houses are absolutely beautiful! Keep up the good work:)
everyone is very nice and helpful. there were some issues when we moved into the apartment, and some have not gotten fixed yet. One thing that I would suggest to do is you should offer cream in the mini fridge by the starbucks coffee maker in the lounge.
I am very excited to live at the retreat. However, I do wish we were able to move in earlier as it will be very hectic moving in on the same date as all freshmen and other residents. I also was supposed to see a fee to pay rent online.
I am so excited to be living in such a nice place with my best friends for the next year! This place will be my home away from home and couldn't be more excited about it.
I can't wait to live here!!!! The staff has been great to talk to and I love the progress everyone is making! What is even better is that we get to see all the progress via snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook!!
Was very interested in learning what this program was. I think it is great that The Retreat is offering rewards for their leasers. Will definitely be looking for more rewards!
I've had a really good experience with the staff at the retreat they are all super friendly and helpful. I wish we were updated more on the status of construction and we could move in earlier though. I also wish we had a community Facebook so we could connect with people before move in. Also the lease is an absurdly strict document and its a little over the top.
I love the retreat its fancy and the workers are so nice. Everything i go by the leasing office they have snacks and take their time to make sure all of my questions are answered
You guys so far have given great customer service ! I love it ! Keep up the great work ! I can't wait till move in day. Excited to start this new year off right :)
Really great at keeping us up to date on the building progress. I love the snapchat. Everything so far has been beyond simple and easy to get done
The website is easy to follow and the Retreat has been nothing but nice and supportive.Cant wait to live on the best community in Blacksburg
I am so excited to live at the retreat next year! All the staff is extremely welcoming and friendly and I love the homey atmosphere. The cottages are perfectly laid out with super comfortable amenities. My roommates and I have been planning out decorations for months!
So excited to stay at the Retreat this fall! Such a unique housing layout. Love the updates I get through snapchat and facebook! I found the perfect roomates and can't wait to move in.
I love it so far! The staff has been great, emails have been very useful, and the cottages are going up fast! My roommate and I cannot wait!
All of the staff is incredibly nice. They're also really good at keeping customers updated on the housing information, which is so important since some customers' are living off of campus for the first time.
Can't wait to live here! Looks amazing! The retreat is probably the best place to live in Blacksburg, and I am so exited I get to live in a brand new house.
The Retreat has been very professional on everything they do. The homes are very well done with fantastic amenities and services provided for all their residents.
I visited the building site a bit ago and everyone was very nice. I was immediately welcomed and offered to take a tour of one of the model cottages.
So far I'm happy with my choice to live at the Retreat. The staff are in constant contact with me and keep me updated on everything. I can't wait to move in.
The best customer service I've ever had in Blacksburg! They are always ready to help you with anything. Can't wait for the move in day. It's gonna be an awesome experience!
Good experience so far! When I had questions they were detailed in their answer. I Only wish I had a better idea on where is was in Blacksburg on a google map or something.
The staff is great and the cottages seem like they will be very nice. Would be 5 stars but I haven't seen my place yet. If it turns out as nice as it looks then 5 stars would be easy
Great! The snapchat really is amazing to see how the building process is going on and it is getting me supper excited to get to live in this amazing and beautiful place! I can't wait to come back to school and have my own space!
With the exception of a minor mishap regarding our housing assignment, so far, the customer service has been great. The issue was handled in a prompt and professional manner.
Very impressed by the construction so far and the willingness of the Retreat to give us the floor plans and show us around the setup. Had a very pleasant experience when we went to sign the lease. Also, the retreat is doing a wonderful job of getting us excited to live there. I can't wait to move in!
Enjoying the emails. However I was the last one in my group to get the address and room assignment by about a week. This was inconvenient and made me worry that I was not on the right lease
Although we haven't moved in yet, seeing updates on the progress of our community is exciting! It really keeps the future residents informed and prepared.
Poorly. First I was moved from my original 4 bedroom/4 and a half bath to a 5 bedroom/5 bath house, all because I have a dog. Which doesn't make sense considering that I told you I own a dog. I was asked if I could get rid of my dog, or not bring her with me. I have owned her for 3 years, and she goes where I go. Which you waived the pet fees because I can't afford to pay to live in the more expensive house with the pet fees. I thought it would maybe be okay, as long as I got paired with good roommates. Then I was told I had one roommate, who then responded that they want to live in the other place they were assigned to. Now I am roommate-less. I can't afford to pay for the electricity to heat and cool a 5 bedroom house on my own. I have been tossed around before I have even gotten to move in. Who knows when anyone will actually be able to move in, considering they are still building everything. However, I already want to move out before I even move in. This whole experience has been awful. I can only imagine what it will be like once I am actually living there.
The retreat is very helpful and will answer any questions you have about the leave/apartment. I definitely made the right choice by choosing the Retreat.
The Retreat staff has been great in helping us sort out our living arrangements next year, keeping us updated with construction and the shifting conditions that come with it. Stellar customer service, 10/10.
Awesome!I feel as if I almost already live here the people have been so inviting and I really feel like when i move in next year they're excite to have me
I love how they keep us notified on all social media sites. Especially on snapchat so I can see what the clubhouse looks like, my room and that big walk in closet.
You guys offer so many free gifts and are very interactive with your clients. Your snapchat is always updated and the watch our progress app is amazing
I am so excited to live at The Retreat at Blacksburg next year. Not only do I get interesting emails but their snapchat is AMAZING! I love seeing the giveaways and progress on building it!
I really love that you guys always post things on Instagram. It makes me so excited to come live there next year! I also like the friendly emails for everything and that yall reccomended the perfect girl to fill our third room!
I haven't moved in yet, but the Retreat looks like it will be a swell time for me and my 4 roommates. We are excited to move in as soon as possible and we hope that our cottage will be done on time.
I heard The Retreat at Blacksburg will be opening the Retreat in its entirety this fall rather than in two stages! awesome job. The staff at the office did a great job explaining the different housing options.
I really like all of the events you guys are hosting, like the March Madness bracket challenge, even though we haven't moved in yet. The email updates are nice.
High quality atmosphere and staff. Looking forward to living at The Retreat for the upcoming semester and possibly the semesters in the future!
I love getting updates before our move-in date, it makes me so excited to live at The Retreat! I can't wait to have a place for me and my friends to hang out, study, and live together!
The retreat is pretty chill, the people are really nice. The customer service is great. The rooms look beautiful with walk in closets. Everything is nice
The Retreat at Blacksburg has been doing an amazing job at keeping its residents updated. They are doing a great job! I am honestly extremely excited to move in with my future roommates and would love another update on how phase 1 and phase 2 are going.
The retreat looks like it will be amazing. I can't wait to get there and have a grand time. It will be very fun to have my own room and bathroom
I haven't had any issues with the Retreat at Blacksburg! The staff is warm and welcoming, and they are happy to provide any information needed.
I love the Retreat! Everyone was so friendly when going through the leasing process. I am so excited to live there next year with my friends!
So far the retreat has provided a comforting experience. The people at the leasing office were kind and professional. I have friends who live in retreats in other college campuses and they love it.
I'm very excited to live there next year. You guys are doing a great job selling me on it. Most of my friends are already jealous in comparison when I show all the amenities I am getting next year compared to what they're getting for roughly the same price.
The Retreat at Blacksburg is doing a great job. Anytime I have a question, I can just go to the office and the staff is always so friendly and helpful. As a first year student, The Retreat has done such a great job at helping me transition without all the worry and stress of our home next year.
Houses looking good so far! The office has been very helpful and looking forward to moving in. Very excited about the two story fitness center. Hoping they will be down by fall.
I just love The Retreat at Blacksburg. I love the staff. I loved seeing you all at events such as the housing fair. I also love your instagram.
You all have been doing very well with emails, and your social media cites keep me updated on the progress of construction. Can't wait to move in!
I really love the people who work for the Retreat. All of the recruiters are very kind and I always love to see the retreat at housing fairs. Thanks!
So far I'm super excited to live at the retreat. I watched a video on facebook that made it look super fun and like it was from a movie. I can't wait to try the golf simulator.
The Retreat at Blacksburg will offer me and my friends a place to focus on studies while also offering the luxury and relaxation of resort-style living
Great customer service and friendly staff! Very excited to move in and get the opportunity to live in such a nice and welcoming facility. Can't wait!
I can't wait to move in! The site is coming along very well and seeing my future Hokie Home in the making is absolutely great. Looking forward to it!
I am so excited to be living and working here next year!! I can't wait for all of the amenities and the exciting new community feel to be a part of!
The Retreat at Blacksburg is beautiful and hopefully it will live up to the hype. It has a lot of cool ammenities that i cant wait to be able to use
Really good, loving the vibe. Turtles are my favorite animals and y'all have a very pro turtle pet theme happening which I truely appreciate.
I love everything you guys are doing and can't wait until next year. My friends and I have everyone else on campus jealous and
